Planning promotions in Europe or the Rest of the World ?
There is no standard set of laws when it comes to running promotions around the world. In some countries you need to obtain Government authorisation, in others there are taxes to be paid on the value of prizes, or draws must be conducted by a public official, but in others there are no issues and you can launch your activity the next day. Going beyond the EU presents even more challenges because there are language and cultural issues to consider.
PromoVeritas can handle all aspects of compliance and implementation for your non-UK promotion. This includes legal reviews for each country, drafting terms and conditions, local translations, gaining the necessary authorisations, winner selection, payment of local taxes and even the management of the winners.
As an example of our truly global capability, here are some campaigns that we have recently supported.
• For a hotel company: review of promotional laws in 23 countries from Taiwan to Mexico, Finland to Singapore
• For a PC brand: setting up judging country specific competitions in 15 countries that fed into a grand global final.
• For Ted Baker , a 17 country promotion where we did a compliance review, wrote terms and conditions and took care of judging
• An Italian food brand: wanted to enter the UK and other EU markets. We provided the promotional tools to make it happen.
Of course there maybe some international law firms that may able to provide a similar service, but few have the practical promotional expertise that we have or be as cost effective.
