PromoVeritas- Category Sponsors of the Marketing Week Engage Awards 2010
On Tuesday 18th May 2010, PromoVeritas joined hundreds of other industry leaders at the Marketing Week Awards 2010 at the Grosvenor House hotel to celebrate the year’s most innovative and influential marketing campaigns. We were the proud sponsors of the Sales Promotion category, recognising the role of promotional marketing in bringing a campaign to life.
Our MD, Jeremy Stern, went onstage with host Chris Evans (who subsequently exclaimed “PromoVeritas we love you!”) to hand over the award, which went to JPMH and Carat for their joint effort creating the Compeed ‘Blister Plasters and Club Nights’ campaign. The promotion effectively targeted women on nights out who find their shoes cause them huge discomfort, and was highly successful in increasing the client’s market share this year.

Other highlights include Agency of the Year being awarded to VCCP, in part thanks to their work on Comparethemarket.com, and Brand Innovator of the Year going to O2 for their launch of O2 Money and two awards to Walkers for their brilliantly successful “Do Us A Flavour” campaign – one that PromoVeritas worked on in 2009, providing the independent verification of the voting process.
Our congratulations go out to all the winners and we look forward to continuing to work supporting clients and agencies to run their campaigns smoothly and hassle free in 2010-11.
Cost effective navigation around Europe for a Sat Nav Company.
Running promotions in Europe is a bit of a legal minefield. The Common Market does not seem to apply to promotional law and there is a patchwork of overlapping and conflicting laws across the countries of Europe. In Italy you need to obtain Government authorisation to run any sort or size of prize promotion, in Poland only games of skill are allowed, and in Ireland you need to do a deal with a charity to obtain a Gaming licence for your promotion……..
The big law firms will offer to assist you, but at a price.
Now there is an alternative and one that understands not only the peculiarities of the law but also the principles of marketing. PromoVeritas has the skills and the legal network to assist companies looking to run multi-country promotions. A recent example would be for a major Sat Nav company wanting to run activity in eight countries.
We prepared the basic set of terms & conditions, then using our expert local lawyers determined how best to run the promotion such that it would be compliant with local laws and practices. We then prepared the relevant set of terms & conditions, obtained necessary licences, paid the relevant taxes, and wrote the language translations as well as overseeing the winner selection and prize distribution.
For Wrangler Jeans we ran a similar project in 20 countries from Israel to Ireland, from Finland to Portugal, and this is being repeated in 2011.
Our MD was on the board of the Promotional Marketing Council of Europe for several years, and has extensive contacts with agencies, handling houses and of course lawyers in all the main markets.
April 2010 : Barclays bank on us - £500,000 to be won.

In one of the biggest prize funds to be offered this year, Barclays are offering 10 budding entrepeneurs the chance to win £50,000 of cash and support to start their business. And PromoVeritas have been deeply involved from the beginning, drafting the terms and conditions, to the online moderation of all consumer generated content to ensure appropriateness and decency, and the crucial element of selecting and running a team of seasoned Business Directors to act as the judges.
May 2010 : National Movie Awards in safe hands

The UK’s version of the Oscar’s have entrusted the verification of their voting process to PromoVeritas for the live show that will take place live on ITV on 26th May 2010. The public voted in their tens of thousands via both web and paper entry forms and physical checks were conducted by the PromoVeritas team to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions. Watch the show to see who won!
PromoVeritas Secure NTA Awards
PromoVeritas were privileged to have been appointed for the third year to provide our verification services for the National Television Awards broadcast on ITV on the 20th January 2010. These prestigious awards, covering such categories as Best Entertainment Programme, Best Drama Performance and Best Serial Drama, are entirely decided via a public vote.
The PromoVeritas task included verifying the voting for the initial long list at the end of 2009 with entries via web, post and telephone, before the second stage voting in early 2010 in order to arrive at the final list of winners for the show. We were also present on the night to oversee the live vote for Most Popular Serial Drama as well as the writing out of those all-important golden envelopes for the celebrity hosts to announce.
The night was an astounding success with excellent viewing figures and a dramatic win for Coronation Street who for the first time in 5 years beat Eastenders in the Most Popular Serial Drama category. Media reports indicated that the BBC were unhappy at the result and accused ITV of influencing the public vote in their favour, however as the independent verifiers we were able to state the facts and confirm that Coronations Street was the rightful winner and had a significant gain over the other contenders from the very start of the live voting period and so the nature of any content in the show was not of material impact, thus demonstrating the benefits of having an independent and external view of these activities.
Of course once the voting had ended, we were able to enjoy the event and we couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to mingle with the UK’s hottest ‘celebrities’, as our MD Jeremy found himself the victim of a conversation with Jonathon and Edward from ‘The X-Factor’.........
PromoVeritas Keep Dancing- Added January 2010
This year PromoVeritas was retained by the BBC for the verification of the format and public voting in Strictly Come Dancing. Our task for each of the 14 shows was to oversee the counting of the judges‘ scores and the live phone vote in order to then declare a valid final result. With a lot riding on the outcome, the task required calm precision, appropriate systems and good team working with the BBC and telecoms teams – something that PromoVeritas achieved with ease. The team have also been retained for the new BBC show: So You Think You Can Dance in January 2010.
Coors use PromoVeritas for their Worthington's Rugby Promotional Campaign- Added October 2009
To support their rugby ties and to celebrate their unique Britishness, Worthington’s Beer from Molson Coors recently ran an on-trade beer promotion linked to the British Lions Rugby Tour of South Africa.
Simply by buying a pint of beer, consumers could win a fantastic holiday to Cape Town or one of a number of signed shirts, signed balls, and match tickets to see three of the Guinness Premiership’s greatest teams: The Ospreys, The Dragons and Gloucester!
PromoVeritas were involved from the start, drafting the terms and conditions for the promotion as well as independently managing the postal entries and selecting the lucky winners. This is just one of a number of promotions that PromoVeritas have run for Molsen Coors this summer, with the aim of relieving clients of the operational burden of their activities, building consumer confidence and ensuring full and total compliance with all rules and regulations. That is why PromoVeritas can honestly say “we help Promoter’s sleep at night”.
PromoVeritas Save the Last Dance for Samsung- Added August 2009
In anticipation of the launch of their new Beat DJ mobile phone Samsung took over Matter nightclub in the O2 arena on June 7th 2009 for ‘Last Call’ - a dance competition with a twist. Competitors from around the world were asked to dance for 24 hours in a silent disco, listening to music on Beat DJ phones, whilst their own personal mobile phones were being monitored behind the scenes. If at any point during the competition they received a text or phone-call (or they stopped dancing, of course) they would be automatically disqualified!
PromoVeritas’ involvement included drafting of terms and conditions, verification of the back-end processes, and overseeing the judging of the competition on behalf of the creative agency, Lean Mean Fighting Machine. We were proud to announce, after a staggering 24 hours of dancing, that the lucky winner was Greg from Switzerland, who won the €10,000 prize. This is yet another example of how we at PV relish the challenge of an unusual promotion, although on this occasion we were unable to live up to our motto to help promoters sleep at night, as instead our client chose to attend the overnight event!
PromoVeritas do Walkers a Flavour! - Updated May 2009
The Walker’s Crisps “Do Us a Flavour” promotion was one of the biggest activities of the year so far, and PromoVeritas were appointed to oversee the voting as the public vote by text and website on a range of new flavours that were themselves the winners in a consumer promotion. The final six flavours were: Onion Bhaji, Chilli & Chocolate, Builder’s Breakfast, Crispy Duck & Hoi Sin and the intriguing ‘Cajun Squirrel’ and the voting ran from 8th of January to 1st May 2009. We can now reveal that the winning flavour, announced on the 2nd May 2009 under PV's watchful eye, was Builder's Breakfast! Congratulations to all those who voted.
The PromoVeritas role for this formidable promotion included liaison with all relevant agencies, supervision of the database systems, and the final aggregation of the votes to reveal the winner. Consumers can rest-assured that the ultimate winner was independently verified (and sampled extensively!) by the UK’s tastiest promotional compliance specialists.
