Rakuten, sponsors of Spanish football giants, FC Barcelona, wanted to bring millions of fans around the world closer together and give them the chance to be a part of their much loved club.
They developed the idea of creating a ‘Legacy Façade’ a giant digital mosaics screen at Barcelona’s home ground Camp Nou that was to be made up of tens of thousands of fan photographs.
What we did
Rakuten’s marketing agency Octagon asked us to create an innovative microsite where fans could upload their images easily from any device and in any language, whilst also ensuring that the promotion would be compliant worldwide. Our team moderated the photos to guarantee that only appropriate images of true fans made it to the big screen at the Barcelona stadium. We also provided translated Terms & Conditions, a Q&A and customer communications to ensure that fans always knew how their entry was doing.

Our sites made sure the experience was fun and immersive and kept entrants updated about the promotion. Once the huge digital screen went live fans everywhere were thrilled to be sharing a screen with their idols and be an actual part of FC Barcelona history thanks to Rakuten.
