Marshalls Hidden Designer

Marshalls, a popular retailer known for its designer finds, wanted to both attract an online and a real life audience. For the first objective they ran a poster campaign all over New York City. The ads featured a QR code that led to an ‘instant win’ mechanic with over 1,500 prizes of designer fashion items, worth a total of $400,000+.

We helped power their promotions by creating both a digital winners platform and in person experiential pop-up event in Central Manhattan overseen onsite by the PromoVeritas team for integrity security and legality.

Together with Marshall’s we helped to implement a real live pop-up event in Madison Square Park Gardens featuring a Treasure Truck. The public would be invited on stage, press a button and see what lucky prize they would win – from handbags to shoes and coats. With over 500 prizes on offer, everyone was a winner!

What the client needed

For their designer promotion to be a success, Marshalls needed multiple different campaign strategies. Including 100+ billboards all over New York City, with a QR code, which led customers to an ‘instant win’ promotion to win one of 1,500 prizes, valued at $400,000, including designer fashion items.

Marshalls also wanted a real-life pop-up event in Maddison Square Park Garden with up to 500 prizes to be given away. People in the park on the day were invited to queue, come on stage, push a button, and win a prize. Everyone was a winner!

How we powered their promotion

For the Marshall’s OOH Billboard campaign, we drafted the rules, registered the promotion with the local State authorities, and created the microsite used for entry, data capture, and instant winner selection.

Finally, we organised the logistics and prize fulfillment for the 1,500 lucky winners.   For the pop-up, we hired a team of 20 Brand Ambassadors, sorted out all the legal, and onsite security, and performed compliance checks on the day additionally obtaining the necessary tax forms and handling the State requirements for a Winner’s List.
